I've written about 22's before, and about how great and well built Ruger Firearms are. In my collection I have a Ruger 10/22 target semi-auto with a bull barrel and Sightron scope, shoots great. Now I also have another called the K10/22 USST, with a Red-White-Blue Laminated Barracuda stock. After doing some trading at my favorite gun store (Blythe's in Griffith In.), I got this jewel home and started to make some changes. First I took it apart and gave it a through cleaning. Then I installed a Clark Custom Deluxe Trigger Kit, Witch Includes a Hammer, Trigger, Sear and Disconnector, which was real easy to do, even for me. Next was a Clark Custom Lothar-Walther stainless 16.25 x .920 match barrel chambered with their exclusive reamer and match target crown. What a beautiful barrel. After installing the barrel, I sanded out the barrel channel on the stock. Did my own bedding job, looked great. Now I installed a 3 x 9 Nikon stainless scope. Then bore sighted. By the way, I am a slow worker so all this took me four days, but no mistakes. Also forgot to say after cleaning the new barrel, I use Darrel Hollands barrel brake-in fluid . This is a great product that I use in all my rifles and pistols.
Next, its off to the range for testing. I brought my two favorite boxes of ammo, SK Jagd high velocity 22 40gr hollow points and Lapua 22 40gr speed ace. After zeroing the rifle on a 30 degree day, I was amazed at how great this rifle shot with either ammo. Results were 1/2" groups at 50 yards and 1" groups at 100 yards. If I did my part on this no wind day, all my groups stayed small. Ruger makes a great 10/22, but that Clark barrel and the trigger work made it even better. With no failures to feed or any other problems, it was a great day. I was happy with my work.
Always be a safe shooter.
More to come on 223 and bolt action 77/22
